• Thank you to members of the Tree Talk community who took the time last month to answer our survey questions. 1,656 people completed the survey and they were entered into the drawing for one of four $50 Arboretum gift cards. We selected four respondents at random, they were notified, and they’ve claimed their cards. To everyone: We are grateful for your time and the insights you provided. Look for published results in the coming weeks.

•  We’ve kicked off our “Car-free Biking” season on the East Side. From now through September 9, 2012, the East Side will be closed to vehicles each Friday evening from 3:30 pm until sunset and each Saturday/Sunday morning from 7 -9 am.

•  Weather permitting, on Monday, May 21, we will start installation of a new permeable paver walkway from Parking Lot-21 to the Bus Stop area at Thornhill. Construction is expected to be complete by Thursday, May 24. A portion of the second bay of the parking lot will also be closed off to cars and pedestrians. Please use caution in the area during construction and follow the directional signs for  alternate pedestrian and vehicular routes.

•  Donors, members, staff, the public – everybody -  is encouraged to shop at Whole Foods Market in Wheaton (151 Rice Lake Square, Wheaton) on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.  5% of all sales will be donated to the Arboretum.  The store is open from 8 am to 10 pm

•  Check out today’s weather hour by hour.
