Husky Heroes a Big Success

[ comment ] [ email article ] [ print article ] [ rss feed ]

Considering it was only about 12 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday, January 24 and 25, the Arboretum was thrilled to host more than 6,000 visitors for one of the most fun events of the entire year: Husky Heroes.

The warm sun, very little wind and excellent media coverage in the local newspapers helped deliver the nice turnout. In 2007, when the temperatures were considerably warmer, we reported just over 7,000 visitors. Seems that people just decided to bundle up, brave the temperatures and enjoy a great winter weekend at the Arboretum.

The combination of the Dogsled Spectacular, featuring Siberian Husky sled pulling and speed demonstrations, and the Meet the Huskies opportunity brought out families in droves. Lucky members and visitors were able to meet these amazing canines “up close and personal” and were even able to sign up to foster or adopt a Husky who needs a home.
